We have introduced a new Life Skills programme which encompasses focussed Life Skills needed in the home. A classroom has been kitted out as a mini bedsit with a bed, dining table, armchairs etc. We also have a range of equipment, which students will be able learn to use safely to practise household tasks. The food tech room has also had a bit of an update. Future lessons will include how to make snacks, quiches, smoothies, drinks, soups, basic cookery and simple meals. Healthy options will also have a focus. Students will have the opportunity to shop for and cook their own lunch. Sensory based lessons will be incorporated for students who will benefit from these sessions. Household tasks will cover these activities; making beds, table laying, window cleaning, hoovering, shoe cleaning, washing clothes etc. We believe learning practical life skills is so important and greatly benefit our students giving them some independence and self- worth.
